The Detroit Magic Child Development is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit youth organization that provides a eight-week spring , summer and fall program. We service communities in the Metro Detroit area. Most of the services we provide are year round in which we implement after school programs for grades K thru 12. Since 1998 we have served youth ages 6-17 in organized sports and academic programs.
History
The Detroit Magic organization was first founded as a youth basketball team in collaboration with the JBL (junior basketball League Association) in 1992. During it's beginning stages the program focused on recreational activities as it's primary purpose, however through year's of development the program has expanded to include mentoring, tutoring, conflict resolution, anger management, youth volunteer, etiquette, life skills, MEAP preparation, computer training, arts and crafts, and martial arts. The Detroit Magic Child Development organization has collaborated with Chosen Generations Community Center, Children's center, Communities in Schools, Don Bosco hall, Think Detroit (Pal) softball league, Youth Development Commission, Northwest Activity center, as well as DPS (Detroit Public Schools) in providing programs that are essential to the positive growth and development of the youth.
